Waiting . . .

So, you kind of know the story of how we signed Jake up for Pop Warner in our city and they didn't have enough kids to make a team, so Beau took him to Chesapeake against my better judgement right?! Well, now we're waiting to see if he can actually play because he's past the weight limit for his age. You can see from the pictures I posted the other day that the kid is NOT fat. He's VERY tall for his age and yes, he has a little poochy belly, but he's a kid for crying out loud! The limits are ridiculous really. So, they can't add him to the team roster until he actually makes weight and they can't add anymore kids past September 15th. He only has about 5 pounds to lose, but I really don't want to stress my 6 1/2 year old out about his weight when he's actually perfectly fine. Hello? He had to go for a physical before he could even start practicing and the Doctor said nothing about his weight. The President of the League is having a meeting today with the head of the region to talk about him and see if he can move up. Beau said yesterday after I left practice with the girls that he talked to one of the Mom's who helps run things and her kid is in the next age/weight group. They had so many kids they broke them up into two teams: the "A" team that has the bigger/older kids and the "B" team that has more of the 7 year olds and kids who weren't so big. O.k., since Jake is big for his age, move him up! It's all bureaucracy, I know, but it's extremely frustrating. Here my kid is built to have the chance to actually be a professional ball player one day and he can't even have the chance to learn the game and get in it early enough to practice and develop his skill. Ugh. I guess we'll find out more when Beau and Jake get home from practice tonight. So, all this time and money can be all for naught.
